Who We Are:
As Managing Director of Zero Carbon Engineering, Mark Hawker founded the company to provide expertise to companies who are keen to drive both operational and environmental improvement.
Mark is a Chartered Engineer and Environmentalist. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers.
Mark studied engineering at Southampton Engineering and then worked as a design engineer and then project manager for Strachan Henshaw Machinery, being named on several patents during that time.
He then worked in the Brewing Industry for 17 years, initially for Diageo as a project engineer internationally, then as a Six Sigma black belt and coach, then as Engineering Manager, and then at Carlsberg UK as Technical Director.
He has worked in retail for ten years at Tesco and then Sainsbury's as Head of Engineering at both - involved in developing building services and introducing new technologies to reduce both the energy budgets and carbon footprints of both organisations.
Mark has led projects that have resulted in being recognised for Building Performance Awards (CIBSE), Cooling Awards (RAC) and Lighting (Lux).
Subsequently he has also acted as a judge both for CIBSE and Lux in later events.
